Leveling Your Travel Trailer

When setting up camp, it's important to level your travel trailer to avoid any unwanted issues such as water pooling. Here's a beginner's guide to help you through the process.

Choose the Right Spot

To make the leveling process easier, select a flat and sturdy spot for your travel trailer. Avoid parking on gravel or sand as the ground may shift underneath the pressure of the trailer.

Side to Side

Start with your trailer connected to your tow vehicle and use a carpenter's level or a smartphone app to determine which side needs to be raised. Use leveling blocks or boards to raise that side and back up your trailer onto them. Check the level again to ensure that it's even.

Secure Your Travel Trailer

After leveling your trailer from side to side, use chocks or blocks to secure the wheels in place. Then, disconnect your tow vehicle and move it out of the way.

Front to Back

Use the level again to determine if the front or back end of the trailer needs to be raised. Use a jack to make the adjustments and check the level again to ensure that it's level.

Stabilize To keep everything level, use stabilizers located at each corner of your trailer to secure it. Make sure they are firmly planted in the ground but not too tight that they get damaged.
